Draft for adoption
Declaration of Principles
Preamble
We, Afghans at home and across the world, believe that Afghanistan's future belongs to its people: the girl who wants to learn, the journalist who wants to speak, the farmer, the teacher and the artist. Freedom is not a gift to be granted. It is a right to be defended, together. On that belief we set out the principles of this movement.
Article 1Freedom of expression
Every Afghan has the right to speak, write, gather and believe without fear.
Article 2Education for all
Every girl and every boy has the right to a classroom. No exceptions.
Article 3Justice and the rule of law
Afghanistan must be governed by institutions that answer to the people, not to force.
Article 4Unity in diversity
All of Afghanistan's peoples, languages and faiths are one nation. No Afghan stands above another.
Article 5Dignity and safety
The dignity and safety of every person come first. The movement will not expose anyone to danger by revealing who they are.
Article 6A public record
The movement speaks through dated, numbered statements and keeps a public record of how its Forum is moderated.
